The following information is based upon information gathered from trips in years gone by.
We will get collected from The Hermitage on Thursday March 29th by coach and then travel to North Shields ferry terminal for check-in shortly after 2:30pm. We have been consistently successful in gaining permission from schools to allow our players to miss a day of school in order to engage with the numerous benefits of this trip.
The travel to Ijmuiden is overnight, everyone gets a bed in a cabin and entertainment is available for people of all ages. We share 4, 5 or 6 berth cabins across the club.
Once checked through Dutch customs, we board the coach to travel to Centreparcs Limburgse Peel.
The chalets are typically 6 bed chalets, but we can get 4 or 8 bed chalets for an additional premium. The park has lots to do to keep everyone occupied.
The football tournament is operated by Tiny Gemert under the name Easter Open. http://www.easteropen.com/en/
We play our games in the North East Brabant area, not too far away from our base at Centreparcs.
Each team will get to play Saturday and Sunday games- at least three each day as groups have four to six teams in them. Saturdays are a ‘grading’ and competition on a Sunday tends to be more even. The following are some of the venues we have been lucky enough to experience:
Usually, teams get to experience two venues.
On Monday, we pack, board our coaches and travel back to the ferry for the overnight crossing. Teams have decided to use the Monday to visit Ajax Amsterdam in the past.
The cost will be around £300 per head, for travel, snacks in transit and lodgings. Also, depending on the team coach and the age of the team, some coaches are willing to take responsibility for players in their team if a parent or carer can not accompany the player. There are opportunities to raise funds to offset the costs of the trip.
